The Settings section offers a mix of workflow parameters, including Pre-roll controls (for length and whether the metronome should be active), the Default Launch Quantization setting, whether you want a Post Recording Action to be triggered (and if you want a Delay on that action), and whether you want Record Quantization applied to notes (and if so, whether you want their end times to be quantized as well).įinally, note that Bitwig Studio's audio engine can be engaged for only one Bitwig Studio project at a time, no matter how many are open. The Playback section provides parameters that take effect during project playback, such as the Metronome volume, whether sub-beats should also sound ( Play Ticks), and the mappable Fill mode toggle, used by Occurrence Operator (see Occurrence) and available via the Globals modulator (see Globals). This is available for many more transport options within the Play menu.Īll controls in the Groove section can be mapped and/or automated. The shortcut button, however, is so named because you can toggle it in and out of existence. The three global buttons above will always be present. When the global record button is enabled, Arranger recording will begin the next time the transport is started.Īutomation Write (Arranger) shortcut button: Enables automation recording to the Arranger Timeline the next time the transport is started. Global Record: Arms all record-enabled tracks. When the transport is already inactive, clicking the global stop button returns both the Global Transport and the Play Start Position to the beginning (play position 1.1.1.00). Simply, just by watching some random videos, I noticed how that one looks freaking cool and I hope IL will take many of the good stuff from it and port it directly to FL.Global Play: Toggles and indicates the state of Bitwig Studio's transport. That's it.įor sure it will have some different problems FL doesn't and I don't want to start any discussion about what daw is better. But it simply looks so sturdy and consistent.Ī solid core and a lot of modulation capabilities built around it. Sure, it's a brand new daw so it's much easier to add all these nice features, each one so really well thought. I'm not talking about GUI and responsiveness (users recently talking about fps which don't seem to be a problem in bitwig at all, looks suuuper smooth) not blaming anything. Oh my! how easy is to create interesting stuff with just a few clicks.ĭead on precision, no ramps unless you want them, no mess, nested tracks/groups, sooo much stuff I'd love to see in FL. Sure, as soon as I watched those tutorial I felt this daw was more intended for techno/house (as is probably also ableton) and maybe many other genres are much more difficult to be made for various reasons etc but. No need to open a new plugin for every type of "external" modulation you need. Tons of modulations available for any parameter (internal/external) with just a couple of clicks. omg how easy it is to modulate anything!!

I'm not blaming FLs messiness, FL is my first and only love, but Oh my! how easy is to modulate stuff, SEE WHAT'S MODULATING WHAT, not having the need to jump between multiple windows to achieve something (i have 4 screens just because FL works 100 times better with 1 screen for each window) I'm just watching some basic tutorials for Bitwig and ohh man, looks and feels awesome.
